My Kindness Wand project, our community charity project, was established with the purpose of educating our young ones the importance of helping out in our community to make the world a better place. As they come to understand how they can make a positive impact, they get to learn and develop new skills that they might not necessarily have the chance to. More importantly, it is our hope that through this project, our children learn to be kind and caring, especially towards those who are less fortunate.
Every August is dedicated to My Kindness Wand project. Each year, we select a charity organisation or non-governmental organisation (NGO) as the beneficiary of our project. Over the course of My Kindness Wand project, we outline several tasks for both parents and children to participate in. Parents are encouraged to get involved throughout the program.
The following are the past My Kindness Wand projects that we have carried out:
My Kindness Wand Project (2017)
We organised a charity drive to raise funds for Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan OKU Mesra Petaling Jaya. The funds were used to purchase daily necessities for the orphans and handicapped residents of the home. During a visit to hand over the goods, our students also had the opportunity to prepare lunch and fruit juice for them.
My Kindness Wand Project (2018)
Funds raised for the year were channeled to Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Malaysia (IQ70+). Apart from collecting funds, our students paid a visit to the centre, where they served sandwiches and fruit skewers to the residents. This was followed by a Wayang Kulit performance by our students, titled “The Breath of Dragon”.
My Kindness Wand Project (2019)
The beneficiary for the year was Tanarimba Rainforest Information Centre. Funds for this community project were raised through food and beverage sales. Our students learned about the importance of caring for the environment and being eco-friendly. They also had the opportunity to participate in a charity performance had the opportunity to participate in a charity performance at Tanarimba, Janda Baik, which also happened to be the largest outdoor performance in Malaysia to date.
